2016 Origins Roundup

Posted on

Hey Origins Attendees!

Magpie Games is excited to support Games on Demand at Origins 2016. We’ve got a whole bunch of new stuff to show off, as well as opportunities to play Urban Shadows, Epyllion, and Masks! Here are a few of the games you might catch this year:

Bluebeard’s Bride – A newly-married bride explores the sinister and threatening rooms of her new husband’s house, creeping ever closer to her doom. Will she escape Bluebeard’s clutches? Or is her fate already written?

Cartel – The Sinaloa Cartel rules western Mexico with an iron fist, including the sleepy town of Durango, Mexico. But as the drug war heats up, business is anything but usual for the men and women who run the drug trade to El Norte.

Masks – Everyone always tells you who you are, who you should be. But you know the truth: you’re still finding your way as a young superhero in a city of superheroes. Along with the rest of your team, you’ll save Halcyon City, defeat supervillains, and maybe even get a date!

Mirrorlands – The red crystal deserts divide Shards from one another, lands that escaped the Sundering and still thrive. As Dreamers, you are the only hope the world has to be whole again, but the dangers you face will require you to learn the many secrets the Mirror still holds.

Urban Shadows – The streets bleed shadows as the supernatural politics of the city threaten to swallow you whole. Will you die a hero—a savior for those who have never had enough—or live long enough to become the villain? Will you fight the darkness…or give in for power?

Velvet Glove – You’re part of a gang of teenage girls, caught between loser boys, truant officers, parents, and other gangs. Your life isn’t easy, and all this pressure could really bring a girl down. Good thing you’ve got this.

Zombie World – Z-day has come and gone. And now you’re all that’s left. Build a community of survivors amidst the wreckage of the old world, as you and your fellow uninfected struggle to find safety and security in a world full of dangers.

In addition to these games, you can also find tons of other awesome indie games at Games on Demand, including new releases, playtests, larps and more. Come to the Hyatt-Fairfield room during the convention for any of the slots (9am – 1pm, 2pm – 6pm, and 8pm – 12am) to catch Magpie folks and many other awesome GMs. Thanks!

  1. All these interesting, lovely games, and not a single link to show me where I can get them, other than an event I’ve never heard of before at an undisclosed location — I mean, the hotel is listed, but what city or state is that located in?
Urban Shadows, at least, is in the product list, so I know where I can get that, provided I didn’t already have it (DriveThruRPG.com is such a wonderful place)

  2. I loved Zombie World at Origins. As it exists right now, my group and I could go to town with it. I understand it’s still in playtest, and I fully intend to buy it as soon as you have a product to sell, but is there a way I can run it in the meantime?

    1. Hi Nick!

Zombie World is still in development, and we’ll announce here as soon as it’s available for playtesting. We’re glad to hear you had a good time playing it, though!
